If you're young enough, you may not even know Ice Cube the rapper, but listen here folks: the man knew a thing or two about writing powerful verses. From his days of NWA to his solo career, Today was a Good Day is one of the most iconic hip hop tracks of the 90's and a MUST for my planner collection!

Another 90's classic, when I hear the intro to this song I'm instantly transported by Lauren Hill's vocals to the good ol days when rap wasn't mumbled and music videos were on the television. NAS offers undeniably powerful lines throughout this track and the chorus made for a perfect cover!

Ok, this lyric choice just seemed too obvious to pass up. Rick Ross knows how to make the kind of musical hit you just can't get out of your head and this cover is sure to make you feel like a BOSS! Perfect for your work plans, school assignments, or anything in between!

"Remember back on the boogie when cats used to harmonize?!" Seriously this is one of my all time favorite tracks. The message is brilliant, the delivery even better. Add to the fact that Lauren Hill's vocal harmonies are a throw back to the Doo Wop genre of the 40's and I had no choice but to turn this one into a cover!

As I build my insert empire one thing I often like to tell myself is to keep coming up with "funky ass shit like every single day." Snoop knew what he was talking about when he came out with this west coast classic! It's another hit that everyone knows within the first few seconds of it hitting the radio! A true icon.

Only a true hip hop goddess could take a lyric, literally play it in reverse, and have us singing it like they were real words! Missy's Work It makes an appearance on almost every playlist I've ever curated. It's fun, upbeat and features Missy's iconic sound, ti esrever dna ti pilf, nwod gniht ym tup!
Rock Themed:

Funny, charismatic, and catchy as hell, Blink 182 rose to infamy in 1999 with their hilarious music video spoof on the boy band trend of MTV! To this day I have no clue what All the Small Things is even about but you bet your bottom dollar I'm hitting the harmony on those na-na-nas because I've heard the track nearly 99,999 times!

Nothing screams Bess' emo days more than a little Brand New. Known for their exceptionally long song titles, this band knows how to hook you in with a solid guitar line and then keep you listening for the sharp witted lyrics. Since a planner is the number one thing that keeps me from forgetting what I have going on, I felt this cover was uber appropriate!

Nirvana changed the alt rock game back in the 90's so it was only right that I paid them tribute with one of my covers. I especially love this line from Heart Shaped Box, because how often do people feed us "precious advice?!" Okay, Carol, I know exactly where to write that advice down!

This early 2000s pop punk classic was actually the song that started this entire collection. From start to finish song is catchy, makes you want to scream along and hits those poignant messages about savoring every moment. Totally empowering and hella planner relevant.

Whats a rock playlist without a little quirk?! Modest Mouse sings in one of the weirdest voices I've ever heard and yet somehow it works? This song is all about rolling with the punches and trusting that things will be OK. The chorus makes for a perfect planner affirmation!

If you need a rock and roll anthem to really light your fire, you've gotta give this track a listen. The title is witty but the lyrics are powerful: "We're redefining the word impossible, we're standing up for what we feel is right. I am fucking unstoppable" and the perfect message for this planner cover!
Pop Themed:

Use it properly and a planner really can make your dreams come true, so I had to include this Hall & Oates classic of the 80's. Its upbeat, forever fun to dance to, and uber appropriate for another planner affirmation!

The OG American Idol had to have a spot on this musical collection! Breakaway not only has beautiful vocals but it's also such a strong message that seemed oh so fitting for planner life. Will you be using your planner to make a change?

When it comes to pop no one does it better than Mark Ronson. Add Bruno's soul and steeze and Uptown Funk is without a doubt the catchiest track on this cover playlist. Don't believe me? Just watch! Guarantee you'll have this hit stuck in your head for the rest of the day! #sorrynotsorry

This catchy track from the early 2000's is another song on my list that just felt right for the planner scene. The full line from the song is "Today is where your book begins, the rest is still unwritten" which is really just a classier way of saying carpe that freaking diem. If you only live once, this is the planner cover to go with!

Ra Ra uh uh uh, within five notes everyone knows this song when it comes on the radio. I've been a big fan of Gaga's since her first album - forever quirky, always pushing boundaries, and can we talk about those pipes!? She's my unofficial queen of pop and the perfect contender for a bold planner cover!

Last but not least, it's not a pop playlist if there isn't a little Britney, bitch! To be fair, this is actually one of my least favorite tracks from her discography but the sentiment was pretty much perfect for this planner cover. Plus Oops I Did it Again only makes sense if we're housing shopping tracking pages within it!
